How We Work

The process of engaging a tutor for your child can be daunting and you may have particular concerns, especially if this is the first time you have considered tuition, or equally if you have had a less than satisfying experience in the past. Here is an idea of what you can expect from Knowledge Seekers.

My experience of working both with Alexandra and our individual tutor has been nothing short of impressive. Alexandra takes great pride in her business ensuring that parents have a consultative approach to their child's learning. Learning styles and needs are identified by Alexandra's consultation and assessment, ensuring that ample time is spent with the child and parent.

1. Initial Conversation

When you first contact us, we will ask you to tell us about your child and which type of tuition or course you are looking for. We will ask for your full address, contact details, your child's age, school year and any relevant examining boards or syllabus and module details for GCSE or A-level tuition, or a list of preferred schools for entrance exam tuition. We will need to know the suitable days and times of the week for a tutor to come and work with your child, to enable us to place a tutor with your child.

We may also discuss your child's interests and personality as well as any other particular issues or educational needs you would like to mention. At this stage we will take a deposit, which is redeemable against your first block of tuition or the balance of a course payment.

2. Consultation

Depending on your individual needs and concerns, you may feel that you would like to make an appointment to have an academic consultation for your child, or a private consultation to advise you on options such as school choice, how to work with and empower your child, or how coaching or mentoring may help. Assessments and consultations are available by request during your initial conversation.

3. Matching a Tutor with your Child

Based on the information you have given us we will choose a tutor from our dedicated team who has experience of tutoring children of your child's age in the subject you have requested. We take into account the particular areas of difficulty that your child is having and consider soft skills, personality and teaching approach in our selection. We then contact the tutor and ensure that they have the necessary availability and that they can commit to working with your child for the necessary time frame. This process may take anything between 2 days and 2 weeks depending on yours and their availability.

4. Agreeing the Details

Once we have found a suitable match we will contact you to discuss what we can offer. If you are happy with our proposal we will take a payment for the balance of your first block of 10 tutorials and confirm in an email the tutor's details and the agreements we have made regarding the tuition. Please note that any changes to these agreements such as change of lesson time must be discussed directly with your tutor as we cannot guarantee that messages left with us will reach a tutor in time. We also strongly advise keeping to your regular weekly slot as our tutors are popular and may not have other free timeslots in their week.
